Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Boris (ranked 497 p4p, 1284 weight class) and Willy McCoy (ranked 66 p4p, 163 weight class). McCoy has chosen You Don't Mess Around With Jim as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boris shoots in for a takedown but McCoy shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
McCoy walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Boris doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
McCoy misses with an uppercut.
Boris attempts a counter takedown but McCoy avoids it well and moves away.

McCoy swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

A little jabbing left from McCoy on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Boris. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Boris bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of McCoy's head.

Boris escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McCoy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
McCoy is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Boris has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. McCoy is looking to defend but Boris has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for McCoy! Boris pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, McCoy taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). John Boris!
John Boris tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
