Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ville Valo (ranked 2876 p4p, 24740 weight class) and Gwendylyn Kasparas (ranked 108 p4p, 157 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 18 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ville Valo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gwendylyn Kasparas!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, William Peck and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kasparas swinging wildly here.
Valo misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kasparas tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Valo throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Valo fails in his attempt to clinch.
Kasparas throws out a counter right but Valo avoids it with no problem.
Valo throws a sloppy head kick and Kasparas moves out of range easily.
Valo moves out of range as Kasparas strikes.
Kasparas has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Kasparas blocks a head kick by Valo.
Valo displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kasparas throws out the jab.

Kasparas has taken the fight to the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kasparas dodges an elbow strike from Valo.
Kasparas lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Kasparas.
A bit of stalling here from Kasparas.
A short uppercut from Kasparas.

Kasparas can't get the takedown.
Kasparas working some nice short punches in the clinch.

It looks like Ville Valo has been cut.

Kasparas has Valo pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Kasparas pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Valo tumbling to the mat - Kasparas dives into Valo's guard.

It looks like Kasparas might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Kasparas postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Kasparas with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Kasparas trying to control but Valo is working from the bottom.
Kasparas lands a couple of elbows.

Kasparas has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Kasparas works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Valo looks like he's trying to stand up.

Valo keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Valo regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Kasparas.
Kasparas trying to control but Valo is working from the bottom.
Kasparas is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Kasparas trying to control the position from guard on top but Valo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kasparas is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kasparas circles away from the clinch attempt.
And Kasparas tries to counter it with a takedown but Valo pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Valo tries to clinch up.
Kasparas misses with a hook.
Ville Valo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Valo tries to clinch but Kasparas moves away
and Kasparas counters with a crisp right that sends Valo to the canvas! Kasparas follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gwendylyn Kasparas!
Ville Valo spoke after the fight, saying 'Sleep with both your eyes open. '.
