Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ikapoti Puapua (ranked 25863 p4p, 25861 weight class) and Topan Badai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Ikapoti Puapua! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Topan Badai! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Chris Dean and Ben Hemmingworth.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puapua moves into the clinch successfully.
Puapua is struggling to control the position. Badai tries to land a knee to the head but Puapua blocks with his arms.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Badai looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Badai manages to pull guard.
Puapua stopping the sweep attempt from Badai. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Badai has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Puapua is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Badai. Puapua could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Badai tries to buck Puapua off but Puapua is having none of it.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Puapua working away. Puapua staying calm. A control attempt from Badai but he's now mounted! Puapua content just to control the position here. Badai tries to lock up and control but Puapua gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Badai is looking to get to half guard. Badai tries to hold on but Puapua postures up. Badai is wriggling around trying to escape.
Badai is still trying to improve position. Puapua controlling the pace for now. Badai wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Badai is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Badai is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Puapua content just to control the position here. Puapua avoids the attempt from Badai to control. Badai tries to reverse the position but Puapua maintains control.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Puapua controlling his opponent. Badai keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Badai tries to hold on but Puapua postures up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Puapua controlling the pace for now. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Puapua is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Badai can do to turn this around? Puapua is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Puapua moves into the clinch. Badai is trying to maintain a safe position but Puapua gets an underhook and turns Badai into the cage. The referee calls for Puapua to work.
Badai goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Puapua's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Badai jumps into guard, dragging Puapua to the mat.
Badai is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Badai can't keep his opponent in guard - Puapua advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Badai throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Puapua manages to pass to side control. Puapua is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Badai wants to get back to his feet.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Badai is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Puapua moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Badai wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Badai managing to control the position.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup. Puapua stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Badai swivels though and keeps the full guard.
 The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Puapua clinches up with Badai and pushes him back against the cage. Puapua slows down the pace here.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Badai pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Puapua closes the distance and clinches.
Badai turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Badai misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Badai wants to control but Puapua is keeping him busy. Badai looks up at the clock and then as Puapua takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Badai smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Puapua can't do much from the bottom here.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Badai taking a break here but Puapua is having none of it and regains half guard. Puapua is controlling Badai's trapped leg to prevent Badai from advancing to side control. Badai trying to pass the guard but Puapua defending well.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Puapua is staying active underneath Badai, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Puapua is controlling Badai's position as best he can from this difficult position. Badai takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
 The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Puapua drives through and clinches with Badai against the cage.
Badai pulls guard successfully.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Badai is looking to stand up but Puapua isn't so interested in that idea. Puapua is stalling in the full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Topan Badai comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Puapua has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
