Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ben Maunders (ranked 2325 p4p, 4541 weight class) and Christ Benoit (ranked 237 p4p, 0 weight class). Benoit has chosen Amazing Grace as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ben Maunders!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 1, fighting out of London, Christ Benoit!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Chad Campbell and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maunders throws a lazy uppercut
and Benoit counters with a nice body kick.
Benoit connects with a good right hand that stumbles Maunders. Maunders circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Maunders throws a hook to the side of Benoit's head but Benoit sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Maunders throws an overhand right that lands on Benoit's shoulder, as Benoit tries to avoid the shot.
Maunders shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Maunders wants to lay and pray for a moment but Benoit keeps working.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Benoit looks like he's trying to stand up.
Maunders not doing much here.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Maunders prevents Benoit from standing back up.
Benoit avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Maunders.
Maunders is taking a breather. Benoit says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Benoit is looking to escape.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Maunders thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Benoit's head.
Maunders has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Maunders looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Benoit wants to get back to his feet.
Maunders seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Benoit does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Benoit is trying to stand up here but Maunders is controlling him well.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Maunders throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Benoit counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Maunders takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Ben Maunders seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Benoit cracks Maunders with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Maunders misses with a takedown attempt
and Benoit counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Benoit cracks Maunders with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Benoit has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Maunders to stand back up!
Maunders is rocked!
Maunders throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Benoit counters with a right, left combo that wobbles Maunders badly! Benoit follows up with a massive right hook, straight to the bridge of the nose that knocks Maunders out cold! Oh wow, what a finish! Very reminiscent of Koscheck vs Yoshida as Benoit finished him against the cage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Christ Benoit!
Our winner, Christ Benoit, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
