Mullins has chosen Take Me Out - Franz Ferdinand as his entrance music. Maxwell Mullins has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Deandre Wilkerson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Maxwell Mullins!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Topper Green and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A leg kick checked by Wilkerson.
Mullins pulls out of a head kick attempt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mullins.
Jab by Wilkerson.
Nice uppercut there from Wilkerson.
Wilkerson scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Mullins dives in for a single leg takedown but Wilkerson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Wilkerson closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Mullins did well to prevent Wilkerson getting side control.
Wilkerson definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Wilkerson is thwarting Mullins's attempts to control the position.
Mullins is concentrating on defense, preventing Wilkerson from advancing position.

Wilkerson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mullins for as long as he can get away with.

Mullins tries to roll over but Wilkerson keeps him under control.

Wilkerson will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
A solid leg kick lands there for Mullins.

Wilkerson feints and as Mullins raises his hands in defense, Wilkerson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Mullins is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Wilkerson presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Wilkerson blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Wilkerson wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Wilkerson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Wilkerson misses with a series of wild punches.
Mullins tries to clinch up
and Wilkerson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Donk. Wilkerson catches Mullins right on the button with a cross.
Mullins tries to clinch but Wilkerson is having none of it.

Wilkerson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Mullins pulls Wilkerson in close to his closed guard and prevents Wilkerson from doing any damage or advancing position.
Wilkerson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Mullins changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wilkerson tries to avoid it but Mullins manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wilkerson to the ground. Wilkerson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Deandre Wilkerson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Maxwell Mullins.
Mullins takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Mullins shoots in for a double leg but Wilkerson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Mullins has his takedown stuffed
and Wilkerson counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Mullins will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Wilkerson moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Wilkerson is looking to score with low kicks.
Wilkerson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Mullins backs up against the cage.
A right-left combo lands from Wilkerson.
Wilkerson takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Mullins lands a nice looking body kick.

Wilkerson gets tackled into the cage by Mullins. Mullins maintains the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wilkerson is trying to break free.
Mullins is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Wilkerson pulls him back up using the underhooks.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Wilkerson tries to pass to full mount but Mullins defends it.

Wilkerson wants to control but Mullins is keeping him busy.
Wilkerson is just content to waste time from the top position. Mullins takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Wilkerson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mullins swivels though and keeps the full guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Mullins has his feet on Wilkerson's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Mullins tries to score a body lock takedown but Wilkerson shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Wilkerson looks to land a combination. Mullins sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Wilkerson feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Mullinss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Mullins shoots for a double leg takedown but Wilkerson sprawls well. He's pushed Mullins's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Deandre Wilkerson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
An inside leg kick lands from Mullins.
Mullins tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wilkerson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mullins somewhat.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Wilkerson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
