Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nigel Greer (ranked 3895 p4p, 3521 weight class) and Rory Birdwhistle (ranked 377 p4p, 345 weight class). Birdwhistle has chosen Davidian - Machine Head as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Nigel Greer is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nigel Greer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Rory Birdwhistle!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Greer scores with a jab. Birdwhistle acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Birdwhistle takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Birdwhistle misses with a takedown attempt
and Birdwhistle takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Birdwhistle takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Birdwhistle gets a clinch.
Birdwhistle is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Birdwhistle tries for a takedown but Greer manages to get underhooks.
Nigel Greer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rory Birdwhistle.
Birdwhistle has Greer pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Greer manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Birdwhistle blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Greer on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Greer.
Birdwhistle's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Birdwhistle pulls guard effortlessly.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Greer wants to control from the top but Birdwhistle keeps moving.
Birdwhistle looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Let's hope that Birdwhistle has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Birdwhistle wants to sweep here but Greer controlling him for the moment.
Birdwhistle is controlling Greer's posture.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Birdwhistle tries to strike from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Birdwhistle is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Birdwhistle looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Greer is fending him off so far but Birdwhistle persists. Nope, Greer circles away and we're back to standing.
Greer lands a jab.
Greer looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Greer lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Birdwhistle moves to clinch but Greer breaks away
and Greer counters with a straight right hand.
Birdwhistle shoots for a double leg takedown but Greer sprawls well. He's pushed Birdwhistle's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Birdwhistle is looking to clinch but Greer is avoiding it.
Rory Birdwhistle seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Greer slips under a jab from Birdwhistle.
It looked like Greer wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Birdwhistle misses with a hook.
Greer is looking for a counter combo.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Birdwhistle swings widly with a right hand

and Greer counters with a crisp right hand that drops Birdwhistle! Greer lets Birdwhistle back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

Birdwhistle is rocked!
Greer slaps away a takedown attempt from Birdwhistle, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A little feinted left hand from Greer on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Birdwhistle is still on wobbly legs! Can Greer finish him?
Are you kidding me?! Greer ducked down and unloaded an uppercut from hell that sent Birdwhistle clean off his feet! Someone make me a GIF - that's knockout of the night for sure!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Nigel Greer!
