Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mark Spagnolo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jake Everett!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Fujiwara and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Everett fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Everett stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Spagnolo.

Spagnolo keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Everett's efforts to push away.

I was talking to Spagnolo's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Everett shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Spagnolo is trying to defend but Everett finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Spagnolo is not content to let Everett control the position.
Everett is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Everett wants to work for an arm triangle but Spagnolo is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Still in half guard, Everett seems content to control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Everett stuns Spagnolo with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Spagnolo gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Mark Spagnolo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Spagnolo has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Everett finds it's way round the side to connect with Spagnolo's head.

Everett scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Everett smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Spagnolo lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Everett or not.

Everett has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Everett throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Spagnolo stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Everett feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Spagnolo sprawling to the canvas! Spagnolo rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Everett finish him?!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Everett closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Spagnolo to the mat! Spagnolo manages to get full guard.
Spagnolo is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Everett dives into side control.

Spagnolo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Spagnolo tries to get out of the position.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Spagnolo tries to buck Everett off but Everett is having none of it.

Jake Everett comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Everett winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
