Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Archer (ranked 902 p4p, 1374 weight class) and Koen Kingston (ranked 106 p4p, 160 weight class). Archer comes into the arena with Slipknot - Don't Get Close blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jonathan Archer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Koen Kingston! The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Fujiwara and Kenichi Hosakawa.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A head kick misses from Archer. Archer swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. As Archer backs off Kingston throws a huge counter combo but Archer manages to avoid it all. Kingston keeps Archer at a distance using the push kick. Archer connects with a looping right hand.

Kingston lands a big uppercut and Archer crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Archer looks OK. Kingston waves Archer back to his feet!

We've been hearing reports that Archer has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Kingston sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Archer's guard.

Kingston seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Archer does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Archer holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Archer is looking to control Kingston's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Archer avoid being mounted? Archer gets full guard. Kingston trying to control but Archer is working from the bottom.
Archer has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kingston can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Kingston sitting in guard here, content to control.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Kingston stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Archer swivels though and keeps the full guard. Archer trying to control the position.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Kingston wants to pass the guard but Archer is keeping the position.
 The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Koen Kingston will probably get the nod. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

We've been informed that Kingston has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Archer blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Archer throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Kingstons head.
Kingston pulls guard effortlessly. Kingston pulls Archer in close to prevent any damage. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Koen Kingston showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

It's preventing any offense from Archer, at least for the moment. Kingston wants to hit a sweep here but Archer passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Kingston there!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Archer scoring with strikes but Kingston is staying in there. Archer controlling from the full mount. Kingston is desperately trying to improve his position but Archer has a good base and remains in mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

 That has opened up Koen Kingston's cut even more. Archer can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Kingston is looking to escape. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kingston can do anything to dispel that myth. Archer lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Kingston sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Archer is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kingston has managed to free his arm - good work. Kingston wants to get back to full guard. Kingston trying to control here.
Archer working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
 The cut above Koen Kingston's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Kingston trying to get back to full guard but Archer takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kingston is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
