This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Los Angeles, with a TWGC record of 11 wins and 5 losses; Nedser Kiely! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 13 wins and 5 losses; Yuki Shimada!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Joseph Jones and John Roberts.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Shimada misses with a takedown

and Kiely counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kiely.
Shimada is looking for a takedown.
Kiely jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Shimada walks away with a smile on his face. Kiely gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Kiely stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kiely wants it to stay on the feet.
Nedser Kiely has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yuki Shimada.
Shimada shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kiely as he avoids it easily.
Shimada shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kiely pinned against the cage. Kiely gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Kiely is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Shimada pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Kiely tries to pull guard but Shimada holds him up against the cage and eventually Kiely drops back down to his feet.
Kiely tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Shimada smiles and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Kiely holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Shimada is pressed up against the cage. Kiely has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Shimada down to the mat. Shimada avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kiely is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Shimada pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Kiely is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Shimada is defending well.
Shimada looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Shimada drops down looking for an ankle pick but Kiely pulls his leg out and moves away.

Shimada closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kiely to the mat! Kiely manages to get full guard.
