Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kareem Gallegos (ranked 2883 p4p, 25359 weight class) and Mathew Nielsen (ranked 300 p4p, 473 weight class). Mathew Nielsen has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kareem Gallegos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mathew Nielsen!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A good leg kick by Gallegos.
Gallegos scores with a jab. Nielsen acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Gallegos's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Gallegos duly obliges.
Nielsen tries to close the distance and clinch but Gallegos swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Gallegos is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Horrible takedown attempt by Nielsen or perhaps it was just good defense by Gallegos, which made it look bad.
Gallegos lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Nielsen takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Nielsen slips a jab and a cross from Gallegos.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gallegos connects with an inside leg kick.
Gallegos sizes up Nielsen with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Nice shot lands for Gallegos.

Gallegos closes the distance and clinches.
Nielsen is looking to break free of the clinch but Gallegos has double underhooks.
Gallegos gets through Nielsen's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Gallegos pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Nielsen shoots in looking for a takedown but Gallegos manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Nielsen's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Gallegos appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Gallegos connects with a solid leg kick.

Gallegos shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Nielsen is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Gallegos breaks from the clinch.

Nielsen is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Gallegos's half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gallegos is not content to let Nielsen control the position.
Nielsen trying to pass the guard but Gallegos defending well.
Gallegos is staying active underneath Nielsen, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Nielsen controlling the pace.

Nielsen is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gallegos doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Nielsen.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nielsen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gallegos keeps working.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nielsen stalling.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Gallegos fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Nielsen on the side of the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gallegos moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Gallegos lands a jab.
Nielsen tries to close the distance and clinch up but Gallegos swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Gallegos cracks Nielsen with an open hand slap.
Gallegos works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Gallegos is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Gallegos fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Nielsen to the ground. Gallegos is now in Nielsen's guard.
Nielsen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gallegos manages to get himself to full guard.

Nielsen wants to control from the top but Gallegos keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kareem Gallegos dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Nielsen takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Gallegos throws a nice outside leg kick.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Gallegos.

Nielsen throws Gallegos to one side and escapes!
Kareem Gallegos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gallegos really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Nielsen walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nielsen ducks right into an uppercut from Gallegos.
Gallegos is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
That kick from Gallegos tenderised Nielsen's leg. Nielsen is trying to keep his angry face on.
It looks like Gallegos has been trying to sharpen up his punching technique, as it looks crisper than last time we saw him.
Gallegos misses with a wild combination.
Nielsen shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
The fighters circle momentarily. Gallegos darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Nielsen takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Gallegos showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Nielsen.

Nielsen takes one to the chin there.
Gallegos connects with a good right hand that stumbles Nielsen. Nielsen circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Gallegos lands a nice leg kick that just misses Nielsen's sensitive parts.
Gallegos scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Gallegos bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Nielsen darts in looking for a takedown but Gallegos gets double underhooks and turns Nielsen into the cage.
Gallegos lands a jab to the nose.
Gallegos lands with an overhand left.

Nielsen is rocked!

Gallegos lands a left and a right that send Nielsen crashing to the mat, dazed. Gallegos thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Nielsen is still on wobbly legs! Can Gallegos finish him?
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gallegos throws a monster overhand right that drops Nielsen! Gallegos follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kareem Gallegos!
Kareem Gallegos spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
