Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Van (ranked 4172 p4p, 25383 weight class) and Brayan Duarte (ranked 240 p4p, 309 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Van might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Kyaba. Joshua Van looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joshua Van!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brayan Duarte!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duarte fails with an attempt to clinch.
Van throws a big shot that misses.
Van is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Duarte tries to counter with a clinch but Van shakes him off and moves away.

Van gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Duarte is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Duarte can't break the clinch.
Van is looking to take this one to the mat.
Duarte controlling the action here for a moment.
Duarte drops down looking for an ankle pick but Van pulls his leg out and moves away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Duarte looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Van has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Duarte regains guard immediately.

Van might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Van uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Duarte has time to react.

Duarte drops back looking for a leg! Van is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Van manages to kick Duarte off! Duarte jumps back into Van's guard.
Duarte lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Van wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Duarte wanted to stand there but Van had control of the position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Van is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Van tries to close the distance and clinch up but Duarte swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Duarte is pressed up against the cage. Van has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Duarte down to the mat. Duarte avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

and Duarte counters with a one-two to the body.
Van tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Duarte paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Duarte lands with a nice combination. Van backs away looking to recover.
Duarte is breathing heavily.
Van connects with a body shot that sends Duarte's belly button to the back.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Van doesn't manage to clinch there - Duarte circles away.

That was a close second round but I would say that Joshua Van will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Duarte shoots in looking for a takedown but Van manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Duarte's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Van throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

It looks like Brayan Duarte has been cut.
Van tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Duarte manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
It seemed like Duarte was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Van has control of Duarte's left arm, preventing Duarte from doing any damage.
Van wants to stand but Duarte is controlling the position.
Van is pulling down on Duarte's head to control his posture.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Duarte gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Van connects with a looping right hand.

Duarte rushes Van and presses him up against the cage.

Duarte breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Duarte throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Van.

Duarte changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Van fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Brayan Duarte seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Van gets control of Duarte's arms and successfully pulls guard. Van will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Duarte had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Van defends it easily.
Van slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Van stands and steps away. Duarte gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

And that's the end of the fight!
Joshua Van showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Van, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Joshua Van rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
The defeated Brayan Duarte had this to say: 'Good Job To The Winner standing across from me but also fuck you motherfucker'.
