Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Will Hopper (ranked 269 p4p, 677 weight class) and Hjallis Kalske (ranked 38 p4p, 88 weight class). Kalske is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Children Of Bodom - Are You Dead Yet?. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 17 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Will Hopper! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 28 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hjallis Kalske! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kalske throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hopper keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kalske. Hopper looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Will Hopper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hopper blocks a head kick by Kalske.
Hopper avoids a punch combination nicely.
Kalske moves out of range as Hopper strikes. Kalske is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Hopper connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Kalske momentarily.
Kalske walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Kalske shoots in looking for a takedown. Hopper tries to sprawl out of it but Kalske keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Hopper manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hopper looks to throw the jab but Kalske is out of range. Kalske fails with the takedown. Kalske uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hopper.

Kalske moves into the clinch. Hopper lands a left hand.
Kalske pushes off an throws an elbow but Hopper leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Hopper tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Hopper tries to work over Kalske's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Hopper lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

Kalske has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Hopper throws a body punch but Kalske moves out of range. Hopper takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Kalske slips a straight right by Hopper. Hopper throws a hook but Kalske avoids it easily. Hopper tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kalske was well out of range. Poor timing from Hopper. Kalske displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Hopper throws out the jab. Kalske ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Kalske throws a counter combo.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Nice jab there from Hopper. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hopper tests Kalske's chin there with a solid looking shot. Hopper throws a nice looking combination but Kalske bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Kalske looks to clinch and Kalske takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Kalske fails with a takedown attempt. Hopper swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Will Hopper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hjallis Kalske. Kalske takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Kalske misses with a left hand and Hopper counters with a three punch combo that has Kalske backing up. Kalske nods at Hopper to acknowledge the strikes. Kalske throws a right and a left that Hopper avoids nicely. Hopper lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kalske circles away quickly and effectively. Kalske tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away. Kalske tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Hopper manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Kalske looks for a takedown but Hopper sprawls well. Hopper misses with an uppercut. Kalske saw that one coming. Hopper swinging wildly here.
Kalske throws a right hand that Hopper ducks under and follows up with a left that Hopper also avoids with ease.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Kalske takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Hopper is looking to improve his position.
Kalske has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kalske connects with a nice short shot to Hopper's temple. Kalske looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Hopper is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Kalske is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Hopper! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Poor strikes thrown by Kalske there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Hopper dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Kalske. That did some damage! A big right from Kalske misses. Hopper tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kalske was well out of range. Poor timing from Hopper. Hopper is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kalske can do to turn this around? Kalske fails in his attempt to clinch. Kalske ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hopper moves away. Hopper was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Hopper throws a lazy right hand but Kalske sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Some wild striking there from Hopper.
Kalske will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Kalske looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Hopper is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Hopper throws out a loose jab but Kalske uses good head movement to avoid it. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Kalske! But no joy. Kalske throws the left hand but Hopper avoids the punch easily.

Hopper sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Hopper stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hopper wants it to stay on the feet. Kalske shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hopper pinned against the cage. Hopper gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Will Hopper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hjallis Kalske. Hopper on the wrong end of a nice jab. Kalske moves in looking to clinch but Hopper pushes him off. Kalske digs a good hook to Hopper's body.

Hopper has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Kalske. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Hopper fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kalske manages to avoid it. Hopper bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Hopper blocks a head kick by Kalske.

and Kalske counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hopper won't be happy with that.

Hopper is pressing down on Kalske's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Hopper keeping moving, preventing Kalske from controlling successfully.

 The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Hopper waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Kalske. Hopper cracks Kalske with a good jab. A nice leg kick lands there from Hopper. Will Hopper is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kalske scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Kalske working over Hopper with some ground and pound. Hopper looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Kalske is controlling the pace.

Hopper swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. A swing and a miss from Hopper. Kalske cracks Hopper with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Kalske misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Hopper sneaks back into half guard. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Kalske is working for a kimura but Hopper is defending it quite comfortably.

He's got his arms around Hopper's waist but Hopper gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kalske off to one side. Hopper throws a quick inside leg kick. Hopper's corner calls for a 1-2. Hopper obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Hopper looks to land a body kick but Kalske moved away. Hopper stalks Kalske and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Kalske's face. Kalske staggers backwards, shaken. Kalske shoots in but Hopper avoids the takedown attempt easily. Hopper's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Hopper duly obliges.

Hopper throws a quick counter kick to the body but Kalske avoids it. Kalske is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Hopper's jab looks to have found its range, popping Kalske under the eye. Hopper looks to land a right hand but Kalske moved out of range. Despite the aggression on Kalske's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Hopper lunges at Kalske with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Kalske's hand. Hopper throws a nice inside leg kick. Hopper lands a nice shot that snaps Kalske's head back.
