PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gakus Amiga (ranked 23448 p4p, 23271 weight class) and Richard John Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 53 - 74 - 7, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gakus Amiga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 58 - 75 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Richard John Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Amiga shoots in for a takedown but Salvacion shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Amiga tries for a takedown but Salvacion circles away easily
and Salvacion counters with a nice kick to the body.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Salvacion is defended easily by Amiga.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion is trying hard to land a takedown here. Amiga sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Amiga leaves Salvacion with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Gakus Amiga has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Richard John Salvacion.

Amiga closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Salvacion did well to prevent Amiga getting side control.
Salvacion wants to get back to full guard.

Amiga is taking a breather. Salvacion says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Salvacion is concentrating on defense, preventing Amiga from advancing position.

Salvacion is trying to control but Amiga manages to pass to mount!

Amiga takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Amiga has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Salvacion really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Amiga controlling his opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Salvacion wants to hold on but Amiga pushes him away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Amiga has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Salvacion's face.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Amiga's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Salvacion misses with a takedown attempt - Amiga sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Amiga jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Salvacion fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Amiga throws a counter high kick but Salvacion was just alert enough to avoid it.

Amiga backing away here, and Salvacion unleashes a leg kick that just misses.

Amiga shoots in and bounces Salvacion off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Amiga seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Amiga is looking to advance position but Salvacion has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Salvacion takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Amiga can't escape the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Amiga tries to lock up and control but Salvacion gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Salvacion looking to control and managing it successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Amiga is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Amiga is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Salvacion can do to turn this around?
Amiga is in all sorts of trouble here.
Salvacion controlling the position easily from mount.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Richard John Salvacion will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

Salvacion gets caught flat footed, as Amiga shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Amiga is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Salvacion is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Amiga shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Salvacion but Salvacion pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Salvacion throws a body kick that misses
and Amiga makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Salvacion really felt that one!

Amiga closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Salvacion quickly recovers to half guard.
Salvacion keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.

Amiga wants to lay and pray for a moment but Salvacion keeps working.
Amiga content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Salvacion keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Amiga slows the pace down in half guard.
Gakus Amiga overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Salvacion controlling the position well.

Amiga seems to be working for a kimura but Salvacion defends the submission attempt.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Gakus Amiga showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Amiga has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
