PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Agbay Amiga (ranked 23166 p4p, 23207 weight class) and Clifford Val Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 60 - 66 - 8, fighting out of Las Vegas, Agbay Amiga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 39 - 92 - 6, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clifford Val Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Salvacion enables Amiga to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Salvacion manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Salvacion is looking to stand back up but Amiga counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Salvacion.

Salvacion is trying is best to control the position here.
Let's hope that Salvacion has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga wants to get back to his feet.
Salvacion is positioning himself well to prevent Amiga advancing to mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Amiga tries to stand and escape but Salvacion is controlling the position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Amiga darts in looking for a takedown but Salvacion gets double underhooks and turns Amiga into the cage.
Salvacion appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Amiga is trying to trip Salvacion. He has hold of a leg but Salvacion is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Amiga persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Salvacion is pulling down on Amiga's head to control his posture.

Amiga loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Amiga wants to stand but Salvacion is controlling his posture from full guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Amiga scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Amiga stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Salvacion shoots in but Amiga avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Amiga throws a quick counter kick to the body but Salvacion avoids it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Agbay Amiga dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Salvacion gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Amiga wants to stand but Salvacion has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Salvacion wants to sweep but no luck.
Salvacion is trying to keep Amiga in close.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Amiga has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Salvacion is proving hard to escape from.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Amiga looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
And Salvacion responds with a good body kick, but Amiga manages to step out the way in time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Amiga darts in looking for a takedown but Salvacion gets double underhooks and turns Amiga into the cage.

Amiga has picked Salvacion up - he's going for a ride! Amiga dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

It looks like Amiga is going to stand back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Amiga keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Salvacion is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Salvacion is trying to control but can't.

Nice takedown defense from Salvacion. No joy for Amiga on that attempt.
Salvacion replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Amiga blocks it well.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Amiga fails with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Salvacion throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Amiga was covering up waiting for the punch and Salvacion finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Salvacion is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion tries to stand but Amiga is controlling from the bottom.
Amiga tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Amiga is working hard here to advance position.
Amiga is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion is stalling in the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Salvacion fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Amiga sprawls well initially but Salvacion persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Amiga is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Salvacion can do to turn this around?

Amiga is trying to maintain the position but Salvacion is very close to passing his half guard.
Salvacion content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Clifford Val Salvacion has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Agbay Amiga is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Clifford Val Salvacion comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Amiga has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
