Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Saul Singer (ranked 4399 p4p, 5444 weight class) and Zander Johnson (ranked 403 p4p, 463 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Saul Singer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zander Johnson! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Paul Gruel and Josh West.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Singer looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Johnson wants to control but Singer is keeping busy and won't allow it. Johnson is controlling Singer's trapped leg to prevent Singer from advancing to side control. Singer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Johnson on the ground. Johnson wants to control but Singer is keeping busy.
Singer throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. The fighters are battling for position here. Johnson manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Singer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Johnson swivels though and keeps the full guard. Johnson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Singer. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Singer trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Johnson trying to keep a closed guard but Singer is proving a slippery customer.

Johnson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Singer's guard.

Johnson trying to control the position from guard on top but Singer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Johnson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Johnson throwing strikes but missing. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.  The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Singer throws an elbow that misses. Johnson uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Singer's guard. Nice move by Johnson!

Johnson cracks Singer with a solid left hand. Johnson wants to control from the top but Singer keeps moving. Johnson is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Johnson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Singer works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Johnson throws a strike but Singer rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

That was a close round but I would say that Saul Singer will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.  The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Johnson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Singer changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Johnson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Zander Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

 That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Singer because Johnson loaded up on that one. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Johnson working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Johnson punching from mount but Singer doing a good job of avoiding damage. The referee warns Singer that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Johnson throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Johnson landing strikes from the mount and Singer is in trouble! Johnson lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Johnson has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Singer is looking to escape. Johnson thowing shots but they're missing. Johnson sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! BOOM! Johnson connects with a massive shot to the dome!

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson looking to finish Singer with some ground and pound. This is bad for Singer! Singer in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Singer wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Johnson.

And that's the end of the fight! Zander Johnson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Johnson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
