Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Stevie Hanselman (ranked 1128 p4p, 982 weight class) and Tadahiro Nomura (ranked 98 p4p, 82 weight class). Nomura is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Nomura. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Stevie Hanselman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tadahiro Nomura!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab lands there for Hanselman.
Hanselman throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Nomura doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Hanselman just misses with a punch to the body.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Nomura! But no joy.
Hanselman loads up on a big right hand but Nomura slips the punch.
Hanselman throws a right and a left that Nomura avoids nicely.
Hanselman lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Nomura uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hanselman.
Hanselman throws a nice looking combination but Nomura bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Nomura makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Hanselman swings for the body but Nomura moves out of range.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hanselman. Nomura does a little dance to reset his feet.

Hanselman shoots in but Nomura avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Hanselman, as that shot connected.

Nomura tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

It looks like Stevie Hanselman has been cut.
Nomura bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Nomura throws out a counter right but Hanselman avoids it with no problem.
Hanselman lands with a cross.
Hanselman scores with a punch to the head.
Hanselman looks to land a combination but Nomura avoids it well.
Nomura tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Hanselman rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Nomura moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Hanselman darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hanselman seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nomura does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nomura holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Hanselman thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Nomura is looking to improve his position.
Hanselman thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nomura's head.
Hanselman looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Nomura with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Nomura escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hanselman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Nomura is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Nomura looking for subs off his back but Hanselman has passed one foot through into half guard.

Nomura looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
We've been hearing that Hanselman has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Nomura on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Hanselman is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Nomura trying to control but Hanselman postures up.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hanselman connects with a nice short shot to Nomura's temple.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Nomura is still on wobbly legs! Can Hanselman finish him?
Nomura takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Hanselman scores with a jab to the body.
Hanselman is looking to wear down Nomura with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
BOOM! Hanselman lands a beautiful left hook that drops Nomura. Nomura tries to recover but Hanselman is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Nomura lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:12 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Stevie Hanselman!
Tadahiro Nomura was interviewed post fight and said 'Mizu ni nagasu/the water flows.'.
