Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rohan Peters (ranked 1646 p4p, 2344 weight class) and Kyoto Costa (ranked 192 p4p, 255 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rohan Peters!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kyoto Costa!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Peters. Costa does a little dance to reset his feet.
Costa was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.
Costa moves away from the strike by Peters.
Peters misses with a body shot.
Peters throws an overhand right that lands on Costa's shoulder, as Costa tries to avoid the shot.
Peters bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Costa takes a swing at Peters's ribcage but misses.
Peters keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Costa.
Costa misses the shot to the body.
Costa just misses with a punch to the body.
Peters misses the shot to the body.
Peters looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Costa pivots, looking for a leg kick but Peters is out of range and Costa settles back down.
Costa slips under a jab.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Costa has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Costa throws a big shot that misses.
Costa lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Costa bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Peters swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Costa misses with a low kick.
Peters jabs at Costa's body.

Costa throws a leg kick but Peters moved away.

Costa tries to clinch but Peters moves away
and Peters connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Peters throws a jab when Costa was well out of range.
A big right from Costa misses.
Peters ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Peters throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Peters connects with a good right hand that stumbles Costa. Costa circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Costa lands with a hook. Peters tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Costa moves out of range of the strikes.
Costa looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Peters misses with a straight left.
Costa is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Peters with a body shot.
Peters will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Peters walks into a left hand.
Costa wants to clinch up but Peters keeps it at a distance.

Costa feints and as Peters raises his hands in defense, Costa changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Costa seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Costa won't allow Peters to sweep him here.

Peters not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Costa is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Peters wants to sweep here but Costa controlling him for the moment.

Peters seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Donk. Peters catches Costa right on the button with a cross.
Costa uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Peters.
Peters throws a series of punches but Costa moves out of range.

Peters swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Costa darts in looking for a takedown but Peters gets double underhooks and turns Costa into the cage.

Costa closes the distance and pushes Peters back into the cage.

Peters breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Peters darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Peters smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Costa cracks Peters with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Costa forces Peters back against the cage and clinches.
Costa pushes Peters back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Costa digs a right hand into Peters's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Peters's gas tank.
Peters trying to control the position but instead, Costa has worked for underhooks and has pushed Peters into the cage.
Costa lands a nice shot to the body.
Costa goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Costa tries to work over Peters's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Peters slows down the pace here.
Peters looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

That was a close round but I would say that Rohan Peters will probably get the nod.

A little feinted left hand from Peters on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.

Peters scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Costa doesn't seem bothered though.

Peters fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Costa manages to avoid it.
Peters takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Peters misses with an uppercut. Costa saw that one coming.
Costa clobbers Peters with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Costa lands a nice hook to Peters's body. Peters takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Costa is looking to clinch.
Costa throws a right and a left that Peters avoids nicely.

Costa gets the takedown into side control.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Costa has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Peters is not content to let Costa control the position.
Costa is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Peters will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Kyoto Costa showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

enabling Costa to counter with a crisp jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Costa punishes Peters's body with a nice straight punch.
Costa throws a leg kick but Peters sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Peters steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Costa.
Peters ducks right into an uppercut from Costa.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Costa throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Costa jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Peters misses with a looping left.
Peters takes one to the chin there.

Peters is rocked!
Peters is aggressively charging in as Costa backs up avoiding any damage. Costa tosses out a jab and Peters runs right into it face first! Peters is out cold! Costa dropped down on all fours and is barking in Peters's face like a pit bull in celebration until the ref was finally able to pull him away!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kyoto Costa!
Kyoto Costa tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
