Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rodrigo Caceres!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ispa Mferi!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Percy O'Donnell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Caceres shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mferi as he avoids it easily.
Mferi cracks Caceres with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Caceres is looking to clinch.
We've been told by Caceres's head coaches at Shinobi Martial Arts & Ninjutsu that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Rodrigo Caceres seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mferi misses with an uppercut.
Caceres feinted with a counter takedown.
Mferi feints a jab promting Caceres to slip. Mferi then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Caceres slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Mferi leaves Caceres with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Mferi lands a really nice looking cross but Caceres seems unphased.
Mferi scores with a punch to the head.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Caceres.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rodrigo Caceres. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Caceres shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
enabling Mferi to counter with a crisp jab.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Caceres is defended easily by Mferi.
Caceres is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

and Mferi cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Ispa Mferi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Caceres wants to clinch up but Mferi keeps it at a distance.
Caceres uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Mferi.
Caceres dives in for a single leg takedown but Mferi sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Caceres is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Mferi gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Mferi breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Caceres takes a jab right on the kisser.

Mferi throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Caceres gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Mferi cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Mferi counters with a nice uppercut.
Nice jab there from Mferi.
Mferi scores with a hook.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Caceres shoots in but no luck this time.
Caceres moves forwards but Mferi connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Mferi cracks Caceres with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Mferi has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Caceres to stand back up!
Caceres is rocked!
Mferi throws a pinpoint strike between Caceres's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Caceres crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Mferi scores a great knockout victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ispa Mferi!
