PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Champo Groucho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wanderlei Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Champo Groucho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Wanderlei Silva!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Dillan Fox and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva rushes Groucho and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Silva holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Groucho tries to break the clinch but Silva is controlling the position.
Silva drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Silva with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Groucho is trying to break the clinch but Silva has him pressed against the cage.

Silva has hold of one of Groucho's legs. Groucho is fighting the takedown attempt but Silva gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Groucho is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Silva is controlling him.

Silva stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Silva throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Groucho's waist but Groucho gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Silva off to one side.
Silva misses with a series of wild punches.
Groucho throws a head kick that Silva semi-blocks.

It looks like Wanderlei Silva has been cut.
Groucho lands with a slapping head kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Groucho fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Silva.
Silva looks gassed!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Silva.
Champo Groucho has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wanderlei Silva.
Groucho scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Silva gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Groucho.
Groucho turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Groucho! Silva is out on his feet! Groucho rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Silva is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Silva is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.
