The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.

Chai shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hunter is trying to defend but Chai finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Hunter is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Chai jumps into side control!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've been hearing good reports from Chai's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Chai stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hunter swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hunter wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Chai stays in close to Hunter's body and controls the position.
Hunter is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Chai might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Chai is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hunter is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Chai is trying to hold Hunter in close to prevent damage but Hunter has managed to pass into half guard.
Still in half guard, Hunter seems content to control.
Hunter is thwarting Chai's attempts to control the position.

It looks like Hunter might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Hunter moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Hunter's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
I wouldn't like to be where Chai is right now.

Hunter slows the pace down.
Chai is looking to regain half guard here but Hunter keeps moving and retains side control.

Chai wants to control but Hunter postures up.
Chai is being controlled here.
Chai is looking to reverse the position.

And that's the end of the fight!
As we have tied on points and both fighters attempted the same number of subs, we will decide the bout based on the toss of a coin! Chai is heads and Hunter is tails.
