The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Cabrera manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Vernon on his heels. He'll look to pass Vernon's guard now, I'm sure. Vernon is trying to escape the position but Cabrera is controlling the position. Cabrera has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Vernon is looking to reverse the position.

This is a sustained period of stalling by Cabrera. Vernon is not content to let Cabrera control the position. Vernon sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

 That's twelve minutes gone in the round. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vernon moves into full guard.
 That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Cabrera tries to free his leg and advance position but Vernon is retaining full guard. Vernon controls Cabrera momentarily but Cabrera frees himself. Vernon pulls Cabrera in to control the position. Let's hope that Vernon has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
 That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Cabrera's corner is telling him to maintain position. Vernon is pulling down on Cabrera's head to control his posture. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Vernon keeping moving, preventing Cabrera from controlling successfully.
