This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 18 wins and 24 losses; Leonard Howell! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Standish ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Standish no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Standish keeping full guard, as Howell tries to pass. We've been hearing good reports from Standish's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Howell passes Standish's left leg - he's now in half guard. Howell prevents Standish from improving his position. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Howell working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
