Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 1, fighting out of London, Paul Potts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Bas Rutten!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, William Gold and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rutten shoots in for a takedown but Potts shows good takedown defense.
Rutten tries to close the distance and clinch but Potts swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Potts throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Potts swinging wilding here.
Rutten is looking to clinch.
Rutten throws a series of punches but Potts moves out of range.
Rutten fails with a takedown attempt.
Potts shoots in for a double leg but Rutten sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Potts tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rutten swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Potts wants to clinch up but Rutten keeps it at a distance.

Potts shoots in and bounces Rutten off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Potts slips nicely into half guard.
Potts is looking to advance position but Rutten won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rutten works his way to full guard. Good work.
Potts wants to control from the top but Rutten keeps moving.

Potts looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The fighters are battling for position here. Rutten manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Potts trying to control the position from guard on top but Rutten is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Potts pushes down on Rutten's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Rutten kicks Potts off and gets back to his feet.

Rutten gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Potts looking to pass the guard.
Potts stops Rutten from standing up.

Rutten has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Potts off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Rutten closes the distance and clinches up with Potts, looking for a takedown. Rutten pushes Potts against the cage but Potts circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Paul Potts has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bas Rutten.

Potts clinches up with Rutten and pushes him back against the cage.
Rutten landing knees to the body.
Potts misses with a punch to the body.
Rutten looking for a takedown.

Potts gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Potts is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Rutten kicks Potts off and gets back to his feet.

Potts tries to free his leg and advance position but Rutten is retaining full guard.

Potts thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Potts slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Potts cracks Rutten with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Rutten gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Potts scoring with strikes but Rutten is staying in there.

Potts wants to finish this one by submission but Rutten is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Potts.

Potts working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Potts with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Rutten bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Rutten avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Potts working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rutten doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Potts is tightening it up a little... Rutten has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Rutten reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Rutten taps out! nice BJJ there by Potts!
