Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between James King (ranked 1785 p4p, 1967 weight class) and Tahboule Alawi (ranked 153 p4p, 166 weight class). Alawi has chosen The Ruler of Everything as his entrance music. Tahboule Alawi has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 42 - 30 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, James King! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 17 - 13 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tahboule Alawi! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Wesley Smith.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! King lands a nice looking body kick. King fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Alawi manages to avoid it. King misses with a leg kick and Alawi counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps King thinking. A nice leg kick from King, right into the meat of the thigh.
King lands a body shot.
King lands a nice hook to Alawi's body. Alawi takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. King swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A jab from King misses. King attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. A jab lands there for King. King gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Alawi counters with a nice double leg into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Alawi is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. King seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Alawi sitting in guard, not really doing much. Let's hope that Alawi has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. King is controlling Alawi's posture. Alawi controls from within his opponent's guard. Alawi wants to control from the top but King keeps moving. King is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. King slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. King throws a lazy right hand but Alawi sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. King throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Alawi steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from King. King looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Alawi takes one to the side of the head.
King throws a jab when Alawi was well out of range. Alawi is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. King misses with a head kick.
Alawi with the counter takedown but King avoids it easily. King lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. King takes a swing at Alawi's ribcage but misses. Alawi changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. King lands with a straight right. Alawi didn't see that one coming. King throws a front kick aimed at Alawi's knee but Alawi avoids it well. James King is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. King scores with a kick to the body.
James King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Alawi ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. King looks to score with a jab to the body but Alawi is just out of range. Alawi takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from King. Alawi shrugs it off though. Alawi fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Alawi with a lazy takedown attempt and King counters with a straight right hand. A telegraphed right hand from King misses the target. King throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. King tries to score with a low kick but Alawi moves his leg out of the way. Alawi drops down looking to force a counter takedown but King defends it well. Alawi slips a jab from King. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Alawi! But no joy. Alawi moves out of range as King strikes. Alawi is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. King changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. King with the inside leg kick. Alawi fails with the takedown and King makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. James King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tahboule Alawi. Horrible takedown attempt by Alawi or perhaps it was just good defense by King, which made it look bad. Alawi shoots in for a double leg but King sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. King with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Alawi looking to score a takedown here. King is defending well but Alawi drives through and ends up in King's guard. Alawi looking to pass the guard. Alawi trying to control the position from guard on top but King is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alawi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says King as he avoids it easily. King throws a leg kick that misses. Alawi fails to land the takedown.

and Alawi counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Alawi trying to control the pace. Alawi trying to advance position but King counters by regaining guard. King being controlled here, momentarily. King is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Alawi trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. King is trying to control the position but Alawi postures up. Alawi is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. King wants to get back to his feet but Alawi is in a dominant position and won't allow it. King is controlling Alawi's posture. Alawi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. King swivels though and keeps the full guard. King keeping moving, preventing Alawi from controlling successfully.

King throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Alawi with the counter takedown but King avoids it easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. King is trying to control the position but Alawi postures up. Tahboule Alawi has got the better of the ground game so far. Alawi controls from within his opponent's guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
James King dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Good exchange - King coming out on top. King scores with a spinning back kick! King pushing out the jab but it's not landing. King misses with a leg kick and Alawi counters with a left and a right that stings King. King misses with a straight right.
Alawi drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
King has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Alawi off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Alawi takes one on the chin but seems OK.

King thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Alawi if he has to take too many more of those.

Alawi tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but King defends well and Alawi ends up having to push King into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. King lands with an overhand left. King is looking to land body kicks. A good leg kick by King. James King is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Alawi feints the counter takedown. King throws a body shot but no joy. King misses with an uppercut. Alawi doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Alawi fails with a takedown attempt from distance. James King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tahboule Alawi. A looping hook to the body misses from King. Alawi does a little dance to reset his feet. A nice leg kick lands there from King. King takes a swing at Alawi's ribcage but misses. King smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. This has been an exciting period of action! King throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Thud! ouch! good body kick from King - that will leave a mark!

Alawi misses with a takedown attempt - King sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. King throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. King throws a front kick that sends Alawi stumbling back into the cage. King swings and misses with a hook to the body.

King pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Tahboule Alawi has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! King misses with an attempted mid kick.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Alawi displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as King throws out the jab. King works Alawi's body with a nice hook. Alawi shoots for a takedown but King saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. King with a body punch. A glancing blow. Alawi slips under a jab. King scores with a hook. Alawi's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. King misses with a body shot
and Alawi counters with a nice body shot. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. King misses with a body kick. King misses with a hook. King tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Alawi was well out of range. Poor timing from King. King lands a nice looking body kick.
And that's the end of the fight! James King showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for King, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
