PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Xxx Xxx (ranked 22762 p4p, 5413 weight class) and Xxx Xxx (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Xxx Xxx has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 149 - 5, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xxx Xxx!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 140 - 30 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Xxx Xxx!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Fighter A shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Fighter B sprawls well. Fighter B wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Fighter A gets slowly back to his feet.
Fighter B steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Fighter A dives in and grabs Fighter B's left leg, looking for a takedown. Fighter B pushes down on Fighter A's head and hops out.
And Fighter B responds with a good body kick, but Fighter A manages to step out the way in time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fighter B leaves Fighter A with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Fighter B is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Xxx Xxx. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fighter A fails with the takedown.
Fighter B steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.

Fighter B feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Fighter A is trying to keep Fighter B in close.
Fighter B looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Fighter A is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Fighter A shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Fighter A showed some decent athleticism there.

Fighter B manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Fighter A shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fighter B pinned against the cage. Fighter B gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Fighter B replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Fighter A blocks it well.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Xxx Xxx dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Fighter B shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Fighter B was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

You can see the frustration on Fighter A's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Fighter A tries to buck Fighter B off but Fighter B is having none of it.

Fighter B's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Fighter A.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter B is looking for a sweep.

Fighter A is trying to get an arm triangle but Fighter B is defending well.
Xxx Xxx has got the better of the ground game so far.
Fighter A lands some shots froms side control.
Fighter A prevents Fighter B from escaping the position.
What's Fighter B going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fighter A scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Fighter B to see if he's OK.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Fighter B is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Fighter A off and has taken his back!
Fighter B has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Fighter A trying to control the position but Fighter B manages to sink in the hooks.
Fighter B keeps control of the position as Fighter A tries to break free.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Xxx Xxx will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


A momentary lapse in concentration from Fighter A enables Fighter B to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Fighter A manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Fighter B wants to pass the guard but Fighter A is keeping the position.
Fighter A being controlled here, momentarily.
Fighter B is continuing to stall.

Fighter A is trying to control the position but Fighter B postures up.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Fighter B has his takedown stuffed
and Fighter A counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Fighter B thinking.
Fighter A fails with the takedown
and Fighter B counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Fighter A is lucky that one didn't land flush.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fighter A shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Fighter B but Fighter B pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Fighter A closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Fighter B did well to prevent Fighter A getting side control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fighter B is doing well to control the position and prevent Fighter A from advancing to side control.
Fighter A scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Fighter A prevents Fighter B from improving his position.
Xxx Xxx has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Xxx Xxx is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Fighter B has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fighter A is working away from the top position though.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fighter B is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Fighter A's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Fighter A's back!

And that's the end of the fight!
Xxx Xxx comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Fighter B has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
