PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cody Shelton (ranked 313 p4p, 1089 weight class) and Arctic Char (ranked 36 p4p, 111 weight class). Shelton comes into the arena with Heart-Magic Man blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Char's choice of entrance music: Ice Ice Baby - Vanilla Ice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Cody Shelton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Arctic Char!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shelton just misses with a punch to the body.
Char let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Shelton takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Char avoids the body shot from Shelton.
Shelton looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Shelton misses with a right hand
and Char counters with a three punch combo that has Shelton backing up. Shelton nods at Char to acknowledge the strikes.
Shelton cracks Char with a good jab.
It looks like Arctic Char has been cut.
Shelton swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Shelton throws an overhand right that lands on Char's shoulder, as Char tries to avoid the shot.
Char throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Shelton misses with a lunging right hand
letting Char counter with a right hand.
Shelton lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Shelton fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Char on the side of the head.
Char has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Shelton steps in with a hook that catches Char right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Shelton follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Char looks absolutely devastated.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cody Shelton!
A relieved looking Cody Shelton thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
