PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kenji Ito (ranked 3852 p4p, 25892 weight class) and Tall Man (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tall Man told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenji Ito! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tall Man! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Yukihiro Shimada and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ito uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Man.
Ito closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Man to the mat! Man manages to get full guard. Ito with a nice head shot there. Man preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Man preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Ito keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Man's head. Ito is looking to work some ground and pound but Man has wrist control. Ito has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ito stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Man swivels though and keeps the full guard. Ito pushes down on Man's leg and manages to get into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ito tries to pass the half guard into mount. Man knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Ito lands a nice short elbow.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Ito throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Ito working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Man wants to get back to his feet.
Man keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Man is looking to escape. Ito throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Ito throwing shots but Man is blocking nicely. Ito missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Man really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ito. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ito trying to mount his opponent but Man defends it. Man regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Ito. Ito looking to pass the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Man avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Ito tries to free his leg and advance position but Man is retaining full guard. Ito is looking to advance position but Man has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
Ito is trying desperately to improve position. Ito regains half guard. Ito has a hand on Man's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Man takes advantage of the position though and mounts him! Ito keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Ito looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
 That's three minutes gone in the round. I really don't envy Ito right now.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Ito rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Ito moves into full guard.
Ito looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Man passes into half guard.
Man is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Ito works his way to full guard. Good work. Ito is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Kenji Ito dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Ito shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Man manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Ito might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Ito throws a big right hand that misses. Ito advances to half guard. Ito prevents Man from standing back up.
Man taking some punishment here, with Ito in his half guard. Man keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Ito wants to free his trapped foot but Man is holding on for dear life with his legs. Ito has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. BOOM! Ito connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Ito postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Man badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Ito around the waist but Ito pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Ito is the winner by TKO! Ito jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kenji Ito! During a confident post fight interview, Kenji Ito thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
