Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Maka Pili!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Kesse Nesse!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksandr Martynov and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pili throws a shot to the body.
Nesse is looking to clinch.
Pili half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Nesse closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Nesse lands in his opponent's guard.
Nesse throws a big elbow that misses.
Nesse wants to pass the guard but Pili is keeping the position.
Pili definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Nesse has gone for a leg lock! Pili slips out almost immediately though and dives into Nesse's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Our spies down at at London MMA Club inform us that Nesse has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Nesse is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pili defends well.

Nesse is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pili is aware though and is defending well.

Pili cracks Nesse with a solid left hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Pili controls Nesse momentarily but Nesse frees himself.
Pili is really struggling to control Nesse but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Nesse is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Pili had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Nesse defends it easily.

Pili looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Nesse trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

That's time! Pili's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Nesse shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Pili counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Pili.

Nesse is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Pili got a little sloppy there for a moment and Nesse has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pili has managed to get both his arms back between Nesse's legs - danger averted.
Pili passes Nesse's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Nesse is not content to let Pili control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pili is looking for a kimura but Nesse is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Pili to get the leverage.

Pili is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Nesse!
Pili can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Nesse is looking to escape.
Nesse is desperately trying to improve his position but Pili has a good base and remains in mount.

Pili seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nesse does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Nesse is looking for a triangle but Pili pushes his legs off easily.
Pili is in close to Nesse's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Nesse keeping moving, preventing Pili from controlling successfully.
Pili might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Nesse working for submissions but it's allowed Pili to get to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Maka Pili overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Pili lands a big shot there that rocks Nesse but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Nesse tries to reverse the position but Pili maintains control.
Pili scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Pili with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Pili cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Pili wants to control the pace but Nesse is squirming around nicely.
Nesse is desperately trying to improve his position but Pili has a good base and remains in mount.
Pili scoring with strikes but Nesse is staying in there.
Nesse keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Nesse is still trying to improve position.
Pili is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Nesse can do to turn this around?
Pili looking to control but Nesse is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Pili keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Nesse gets caught flat footed, as Pili shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Nesse has his feet on Pili's thighs here. He's pushed Pili off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Pili screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
