Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Julian Avila (ranked 761 p4p, 219 weight class) and Randy Wieland (ranked 96 p4p, 37 weight class). Wieland has chosen Ran-D - Zombie as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Julian Avila!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Randy Wieland!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Matheus Silva and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Avila throws a predictable looking body shot
and Wieland counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Avila scores with a nice right hand.
Wieland throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
It appears Avila was looking to counter with a kick there.
Avila is looking to land body kicks.

Avila closes the distance and clinches.
Avila tries to throw a body punch but Wieland avoids it by throwing Avila back against the cage.

Wieland manages to break the clinch.
Avila on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Avila ducks under a wild hook from Wieland.
Wieland lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Wieland cracks Avila with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Wieland stuns Avila with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Good work by Wieland as he checks the leg kick.
Wieland throws out a counter right but Avila avoids it with no problem.
Wieland smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Avila misses with an uppercut. Wieland saw that one coming.
Avila fails with an attempt to clinch.
Avila attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Avila throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Wieland throws out a loose jab but Avila uses good head movement to avoid it.

and Wieland counters with a straight right hand.
Avila slips a straight right by Wieland.

Wieland closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Avila quickly recovers to half guard.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Wieland lands a nice short elbow.
Wieland is controlling the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wieland sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Avila defending well though.
Avila is trying to control but can't.
Wieland is looking to advance position but Avila won't allow it.
Wieland is nestled in close to Avila, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Avila has hold of Wieland's hands but Wieland slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Avila knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wieland on the ground.
Avila has his hands clasped together around Wieland's back. He's all about the action.

Wieland thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Wieland has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Avila is breathing heavily.
Avila is in a horrible position here. Wieland smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Randy Wieland dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Wieland punishes Avila's body with a nice straight punch.
Avila looks to throw the jab but Wieland is out of range.
Avila misses with a kick to the body

and Wieland counters with a nice double leg into side control. Avila won't be happy with that.
Avila takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Avila takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Wieland fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Wieland working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Avila on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wieland content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Wieland works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Wieland is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Avila's shoulder. That is not cool.

Wieland wants to lay and pray for a moment but Avila keeps working.

Wieland is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Avila is trying to escape and Wieland transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Avila is forced to tap! Nice work there by Wieland! Very nice indeed!

A very excited looking Randy Wieland made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
