PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cabrunquera Delas (ranked 3944 p4p, 24714 weight class) and Rewa Tate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cabrunquera Delas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rewa Tate!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Paulo Santos and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Delas drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Tate is looking to reverse the position.

Delas stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Delas misses with a head kick.

Delas closes the distance and clinches.

Tate successfully pulls guard.
Tate looking to hit a scissor sweep but Delas is one step ahead there.
Delas trying to control the position from guard on top but Tate is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Tate is looking to sweep but instead, Delas has passed into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Delas decides to stand and escape the position.

Tate dives in and scores a takedown into Delas's guard.
Tate throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Delas works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Tate reaches up to try and control the position but Delas seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Tate rolls and tries to escape and now Delas has his back!

Delas has got his arm under Tate's chin working for the choke� has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Tate has spun round into Delas's guard beautifully! Well done that man!
Delas might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Delas is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Tate tries to free his leg and advance position but Delas is retaining full guard.
Tate forces his way into half guard.
Delas is concentrating on defense, preventing Tate from advancing position.
Delas is looking to control Tate's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Delas avoid being mounted?

Tate is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Delas is just riding it out for now. Tate eventually gives up the hold.

Tate is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Delas has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Delas!

Tate is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Delas defends well.

Tate escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Delas gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Tate keeping moving, preventing Delas from controlling successfully.

That was a close round but I would say that Cabrunquera Delas will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Delas stuffs the takedown attempt from Tate. Tate gets slowly back to his feet.
Delas misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Tate is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Delas defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Tate.
Rewa Tate seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tate shoots in but Delas avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Cabrunquera Delas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rewa Tate.
Tate shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Delas defends it nicely.
Tate shoots in looking for a takedown but Delas manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Tate's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Delas throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Tate tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Delas is in Tate's guard.

Delas changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tate looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Cabrunquera Delas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee asks Delas politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Delas prefers to stall for the moment though.
Tate tries to bench press Delas off him but Delas keeps the position.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Tate tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Delas wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Tate shoots in for a takedown but Delas shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
