Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sam Guinness (ranked 3238 p4p, 2488 weight class) and William Ward (ranked 323 p4p, 259 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Sam Guinness has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Sam Guinness seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sam Guinness! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, William Ward! The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Chris Saunders and Roger Salmon.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ward shoots in but Guinness avoids the takedown attempt easily. Guinness cracks Ward with a good jab. Guinness lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Ward misses with a leg kick. Guinness scores with a jab to the jaw. Guinness connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Guinness shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ward defends it nicely. Guinness throws a right hand that Ward ducks under and follows up with a left that Ward also avoids with ease. A jab from Guinness misses. Ward jabs Guinness to the body, keeping him at a distance. Guinness throws out a loose jab but Ward uses good head movement to avoid it. Guinness's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Guinness duly obliges. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Guinness tests Ward's chin there with a solid looking shot. Ward bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. A nice side step and Ward releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Guinness sizes up Ward with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Nice shot lands for Ward.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Guinness throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Ward scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Ward misses with a wild body shot.
Ward shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Ward was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Guinness can't do much from the bottom here.
Ward working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Ward throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Guinness works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Guinness is trying to stand.

Guinness has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Guinness knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ward on the ground. Ward keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Ward takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Ward lands strikes from half guard.
Ward is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Guinness sees it coming and defends easily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Guinness is looking to improve his position.

Ward scoring with strikes to the body and head. Guinness wants to control but Ward is keeping busy and won't allow it. Guinness looks like he's trying to stand up.

A close round but William Ward will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.
Guinness swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Ward goes for a double leg but Guinness avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Guinness continues to drive forward. Guinness throwing a counter right hand but Ward manages to avoid it. Ward takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Ward gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Ward on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Guinness bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Guinness goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Guinness thuds his right hand into Ward's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Ward throws a head kick but Guinness moves out of range.
Guinness connects with a single shot there. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Guinness keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. No joy there for Ward, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Ward tries to pass the half guard into mount. Guinness knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Guinness looks like he's trying to stand up.

A lazy left from Guinness finds it's target. Ward drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Guinness throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Ward on the side of the head. A shot to the liver by Ward. Beautiful body shot. Sam Guinness seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Guinness waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Ward. Guinness with a nice cross. A swing and a miss from Guinness. Guinness is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ward. Guinness connects with the punch. Guinness swings and misses with a hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ward uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Guinness. Ward flicks out a counter leg kick but Guinness steps away.
Ward scores with a takedown into Guinness's guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Guinness keeping full guard, as Ward tries to pass. Ward has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Ward throws a strike but Guinness rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Ward throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Ward is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Guinness has managed to free his arm - good work. Ward content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Ward is stalling here. Guinness is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Ward seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Guinness has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Guinness fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ward manages to avoid it.
Guinness gets tackled into the cage by Ward. Ward maintains the clinch. Guinness is looking to break free of the clinch but Ward has double underhooks. Guinness wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Guinness is trying to force a seperation but Ward has the dominant position. Guinness blocking some punches.

Ward fails to land with a series of punches.
Guinness misses the jab. Ward fails with a takedown attempt. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Guinness stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Ward with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Guinness to score with a decent uppercut.
And that's the end of the fight! Sam Guinness showed his dominance in that final round. I think Guinness has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by split decision... Sam Guinness! Sam Guinness decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
