Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Trent Clay (ranked 2661 p4p, 2338 weight class) and Fanum Tax (ranked 227 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Trent Clay! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Fanum Tax! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight moves into the clinch position. Clay's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Clay is trying to trip Tax. He has hold of a leg but Tax is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Clay persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Tax is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Clay connects with a nice short shot to Tax's temple. Tax wants to improve his position but Clay is controlling well.

Tax really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Clay. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Clay is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Tax! Tax tries to reverse the position but Clay maintains control. Clay has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Clay wants to control the pace but Tax is squirming around nicely. Tax tries to get back to half guard but can't. Tax regains half guard. Clay wants to take a breather but Tax is having none of it.

Tax is still trying to improve position. Clay lands a nice forearm strike. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tax can do anything to dispel that myth.

Clay is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Tax to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Tax shrugs it off. Clay with good strikes from the mount here! Clay prevents Tax from getting the reversal. Tax tries to improve his position but instead Clay has taken his back! Tax wants to escape the position.

Tax is trying to get back to half guard. Tax is trying to work for a sweep but Clay has mounted him! Clay in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Clay prevents Tax from getting the reversal. Clay trying to control but he's not successful this time. Tax gets back to half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Clay in particular looking to stall.

Tax on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. A punch combination from Clay misses. Tax fails in his attempt to clinch. Clay appears to be looking for a big counter.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Tax tries to throw a body punch but Clay avoids it by throwing Tax back against the cage. Tax has a couple of punches blocked by Clay.

Clay gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Left hook, right uppercut from Clay. Clay lands with a nice body kick. Tax moves in looking to clinch but Clay pushes him off. Trent Clay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tax is looking to clinch but Clay is avoiding it.
Clay gets a takedown into half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Tax is looking to improve his position.

Clay is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Tax is just riding it out for now. Clay eventually gives up the hold.

And that's the end of the fight! Trent Clay showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Clay, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
