Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shinobu Ota (ranked 2625 p4p, 2895 weight class) and Alffa Splenden (ranked 177 p4p, 192 weight class). Alffa Splenden is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinobu Ota!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alffa Splenden!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Joseph Jones and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ota closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Ota lands in his opponent's guard.
Splenden wants to sweep but no luck.
Ota stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Splenden swivels though and keeps the full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Splenden is on top in guard.
Ota wants to sweep here but Splenden controlling him for the moment.
Ota is controlling Splenden's posture.
Splenden must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Splenden with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Splenden won't allow Ota to sweep him here.
Splenden passes Ota's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Ota has hold of Splenden's hands but Splenden slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Ground and pound from Splenden.
Ota on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Splenden lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Splenden takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Splenden drops an elbow to the side of Ota's head.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Splenden lands a nice short elbow.
Ota is rocked!
Well, if Splenden is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight� I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza� Yum. Can't wait.
Oh Ota is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Splenden is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Ota is hurt! He's hurt bad - Splenden fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Ota from any more punishment! Congratulations to Splenden! Great finish!
