Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dagur Kari Petursson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Islam Makhachev!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurstr�m.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kari Petursson cracks Makhachev with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Makhachev.
Makhachev wants to control but Kari Petursson is keeping him busy.
Makhachev works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Kari Petursson is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Makhachev is controlling him well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Makhachev is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kari Petursson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Makhachev working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Kari Petursson pushes Makhachev away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Makhachev gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Makhachev stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Makhachev fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Kari Petursson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Makhachev leaves his chin hanging out and Kari Petursson seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Makhachev crumbles to the floor in a heap, and the referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Dagur Kari Petursson!
Dagur Kari Petursson was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
In defeat, Islam Makhachev stepped up to the mic, saying 'I wanna thank my opponent for fighting me and I can't wait to fight you again brother'.
