Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Injun Merlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Merlin has chosen Ladies and Gentlemen as his entrance music. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Injun Merlin! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Merlin clinches with his opponent.
A nice left hand lands by Merlin.
Merlin tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jones just stands there and leans against the cage. With the two fighters working up against the cage, Jones just misses with a elbow thrown towards Merlin's brow. Merlin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Jones gets a takedown into half guard. Merlin wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jones drops an elbow to the side of Merlin's head. Merlin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jones is working away from the top position though. Merlin is trying to stand back up but Jones is controlling him
Jones tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Merlin punching from the bottom.
Merlin blocking the ground and pound attempt from Jones.
That's one minute gone in the round. Merlin is trying to get back to full guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Jones avoids the head kick by Merlin.
Merlin has closed the distance and engaged Jones in a clinch.
Jones goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Jones is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Jones fails to pull guard.
Jones pulls guard. Jones looking for a guillotine here but Merlin defends easily.
Jones is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Merlin trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Jones wants to stand and escape but Merlin is having none of it. Jones is breathing heavily. Jones keeping moving, preventing Merlin from controlling successfully. Merlin gets to his feet. Jones looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Merlin stuffs the takedown attempt from Jones. Jones gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jones avoids the head kick by Merlin.
Merlin throws a nice head kick!
Jones misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Merlin plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Jones swings for the body but Merlin moves out of range.
Merlin moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Merlin thows a body kick. Jones tries to catch it but that hurt him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Merlin, right into the meat.
Merlin forces Jones back against the cage and clinches. Merlin pulls guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Merlin pushes Jones off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Jones tries to keep at a distance but Merlin has taken the fight into the clinch. Merlin drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Jones gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Merlin has Jones pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Jones manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Jones gets control of Merlin's arms and successfully pulls guard. Jones will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Merlin is working Jones over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Merlin tries to free his leg and advance position but Jones is retaining full guard. Merlin stands up from guard. Let's bang!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Merlin moves into range and clinches up with Jones. Jones has Merlin pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Merlin manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Jones wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Jones keeps control of Merlin as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Jones escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Merlin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Merlin lands in his opponent's guard. Merlin passes easily into side control. Nice work. Jones could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Merlin working away. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jones wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land. Merlin decides to stand back up. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Merlin wants to clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Injun Merlin dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Jones doesn't manage to clinch there - Merlin circles away.
Jones rushes Merlin and presses him up against the cage. Jones jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Merlin walks away with a smile on his face. Jones gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Merlin closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Jones trying to hold on to Merlin's head to control him but Merlin postures up.
Merlin is looking for a kimura here.
Jones flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Jones is looking to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones is defending against the submission attempts here by Merlin.
Jones wants to improve his position but Merlin is controlling well.
Ground and pound from Merlin. Jones kicks off Merlin and gets to his feet. A head kick from Merlin lands but Jones takes it in his stride.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Merlin throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Merlin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jones sprawls well initially but Merlin persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Merlin is controlling the pace.
Merlin wants to take a breather but Jones is having none of it. Merlin throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Merlin lands strikes from half guard. Jones wants to get back to full guard but Merlin has mounted him! Jones wants to hold on but Merlin pushes him away. Merlin lands a big elbow. Merlin is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Jones is surviving well by controlling Merlin's body position as best he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Merlin with a couple of short strikes. Merlin lands a nice shot to the head. Merlin raining down shots from the mount! Merlin is going olschool here, as he tries to force Jones to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Jones shrugs it off. Jones tries to hold on but Merlin postures up. Merlin is working for a guillotine from mount but Jones frees his head quite easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. You get the feeling that Jones really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Merlin looking to control but Jones is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Merlin tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Jones is in a horrible position here. Merlin smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Merlin moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Jones has worked his arm free - good work by Jones!
Jones is looking to reverse the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Injun Merlin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Jones's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Merlin misses with a wild combination.
Jones fails with the takedown and Merlin counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Jones misses with a straight left. Merlin fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jones wants to clinch. Jones tries to clinch there but Merlin circles away.
Merlin clinches with his opponent.
Merlin stalls. Jones wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Merlin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Merlin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jones paws at him with a jab and circles away. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Merlin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Jones bucks Merlin off and manages to get back to his feet! Jones throws a combination that misses and Merlin counters with a body kick. Jones closes this distance looking for a takedown but Merlin circles away. Jones wants to clinch up but Merlin keeps it at a distance. Merlin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Merlin blocks the strikes from Jones.
Jones is looking for a sweep. Merlin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Jones wants to get back to his feet. Jones is defending against the submission attempts here by Merlin.
Merlin is working for a submission of some sort.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones regains full guard. Nicely done. Merlin passes Jones's left leg - he's now in half guard. Injun Merlin has got the better of the ground game so far. Jones kicks Merlin off and gets back to his feet. A nice leg kick lands there from Merlin. Merlin shoots in and bounces Jones off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Merlin cracks Jones with a solid left hand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Merlin trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jones wants to sweep but no luck. Jones striking off his back. Jones working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Merlin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Merlin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Merlin wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Merlin gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Merlin scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Jones tries to get back to half guard but can't. James Jones has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jones can't do much from the bottom here. Merlin is trying to get an arm triangle but Jones is defending well. Jones bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
And that's the end of the fight! Injun Merlin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Merlin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
