PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Kilem (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuckie Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kevin Kilem!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuckie Liddell!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kilem shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Liddell but Liddell pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kevin Kilem seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kilem avoids the body shot from Liddell.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kilem.
Liddell will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Kilem closes the distance and clinches up with Liddell, looking for a takedown. Kilem pushes Liddell against the cage but Liddell circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kevin Kilem. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kilem ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Liddell ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Kilem takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Liddell jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Liddell throws the left hand but Kilem avoids the punch easily.
Kilem avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Liddell throws a jab but it's blocked by Kilem.
Liddell lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Kilem at a distance.
Kilem is breathing heavily.
Kilem takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Liddell misses with a series of wild punches.
Liddell just misses with a punch to the body.
Kilem blocks a jab.

Liddell digs a good hook to Kilem's body.
Kilem steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Liddell.
Liddell tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kilem was well out of range. Poor timing from Liddell.
Liddell scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Kilem doesn't seem bothered though.
Kilem has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Kilem there as he acknowledges the shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Liddell fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kilem manages to avoid it.
Liddell misses with a looping left.
Liddell takes a swing at Kilem's ribcage but misses.
Liddell throws a nice looking combination but Kilem bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Kilem slips under a jab.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Liddell throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chuckie Liddell dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Liddell bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kilem's head backwards.
Liddell fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kilem uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Liddell.
Liddell throws a hook but Kilem avoids it easily.
Liddell throws a big shot that misses.

Kilem feints and as Liddell raises his hands in defense, Kilem changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Kilem working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Kilem postures up in Liddell's guard and throws a big left but Liddell blocks it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Liddell tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kilem throws a strike but Liddell rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Kilem has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Liddell is looking to stand up but Kilem won't let him.
Kilem throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Kilem shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Liddell as he jumps to the side.
Kilem staying out of range there.
Kilem keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Liddell fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kilem looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Kilem takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Kilem avoids the body shot from Liddell.
Kilem moves away from the strike by Liddell.
Liddell looks to land a right hand but Kilem moved out of range.
Liddell looks to score with a jab to the body but Kilem is just out of range.

Kilem tries to close the distance and clinch but Liddell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
A nice combination there by Liddell.


It looks like Kevin Kilem has been cut.
Liddell misses with a two punch combination.
Chuckie Liddell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Liddell throws a body punch but Kilem moves out of range.
Liddell throws the left hand but Kilem avoids the punch easily.

Chuckie Liddell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Kilem's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Liddell cracks Kilem with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Kilem looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Liddell connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Liddell looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Kilem walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Liddell has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Liddell cracks Kilem with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Liddell lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Kevin Kilem has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Chuckie Liddell comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Liddell winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
