Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paulie Soprano (ranked 3782 p4p, 3547 weight class) and Emilio Morterero (ranked 376 p4p, 364 weight class). Morterero has chosen Tequila Sunrise (Spanish Version) as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paulie Soprano! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Emilio Morterero! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Paulsen Ambrosius and Patrick Alders.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Soprano blocks a leg kick. Soprano drops down looking for a counter takedown but Morterero sprawls and moves away. A lazy body kick from Morterero and Soprano counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Morterero keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Morterero slips a jab from Soprano. Morterero is looking to land body kicks. Morterero has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Morterero lands a really nice looking cross but Soprano seems unphased.
Morterero connects with a leg kick. Morterero with a jab. Morterero misses with a double jab
and Soprano connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Morterero misses with a kick to the body.
Soprano closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Morterero scores with the left hand. Soprano knows he should have avoided that one.
 Soprano is rocked!
 That's one minute gone in the round. Morterero drops his hands momentarily and Soprano takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. A looping hook to the body misses from Morterero. Soprano does a little dance to reset his feet. Emilio Morterero is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Morterero thows a leg kick but Soprano checks it
and Soprano counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Morterero tries to kick Soprano off but Soprano keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Morterero keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Soprano wants to free his trapped foot but Morterero is holding on for dear life with his legs. Soprano is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Morterero reverses the position - he's now on top in Soprano's guard. Morterero must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Morterero wants to stand but Soprano has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Soprano has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Morterero has passed into side control.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Soprano is trying to get back to full guard. Morterero wants to stand up but Soprano has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Soprano looking for submissions off his back. Soprano is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Morterero's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Morterero's back!

Soprano has his opponent's back and is working for the choke. Morterero is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Soprano off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Morterero defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Soprano's arms. Morterero really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Soprano. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Soprano trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Morterero doesn't escape. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Paulie Soprano will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

and Soprano counters with a nice uppercut. Soprano lands a nice shot to the body.
Soprano looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Morterero fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Morterero doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Morterero tries to work over Soprano's front leg with a kick but Soprano checks it. It appears Soprano was looking to counter with a kick there. Morterero misses with a combination
and Soprano counters with a lovely straight right hand! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nice body punch from Morterero. Morterero misses with a combination
and Morterero takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. A solid leg kick lands there for Morterero.

Soprano throwing a counter right hand but Morterero manages to avoid it. Morterero throws a jab but it's blocked by Soprano. Emilio Morterero seems to be getting the better of the standup. Morterero scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Morterero misses the jab. Soprano appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Soprano misses with a body kick. Morterero throws a lazy head kick and Soprano counters with a straight right hand. Soprano is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Soprano drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Morterero misses with a straight right. Morterero lands with a straight right. Soprano didn't see that one coming.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Morterero throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Soprano. It looked like Soprano wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit. Morterero misses with a wild combination.
The fighters circling - Morterero throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Soprano feinted with a counter takedown. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Morterero gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Soprano counters with a shoot takedown. Morterero fights it but they end up in guard. Soprano pushes down on Morterero's leg and manages to get into half guard. Soprano moves into full mount! Morterero won't be happy about that! Morterero prevents Soprano from taking his back.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Morterero is squirming around, avoiding Soprano's attempts to control the action. Soprano pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Morterero's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Soprano is trying to take his opponent's back.
Morterero wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Soprano wants to control but instead Morterero manages to regain half guard. Soprano is looking to advance position but Morterero won't allow it. Morterero is looking to get back to is feet but Soprano passes into side control.
Morterero wants to get back to his feet but Soprano is dominant here and he's now got Morterero's back! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Soprano is looking to control Morterero but Morterero is wriggling around and keeping busy. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Paulie Soprano will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

and Soprano counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Morterero connects with a right hand. Soprano shakes it off.
Morterero lands a left and a right that send Soprano crashing to the mat, dazed. Morterero thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet! Oh Soprano is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
 It looks like Paulie Soprano has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Morterero fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Soprano looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Emilio Morterero seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fighters circling - Morterero throws out the jab but it was never going to land. An attempted straight right counter from Soprano misses the target. Morterero misses with a head kick.
Morterero throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Soprano crashing down! Soprano tries to stagger back to his feet but Morterero just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Soprano asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.
