Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rusty Shackleford (ranked 25253 p4p, 3101 weight class) and Kenny Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rusty Shackleford!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Kenny Mason!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Aleksandr Martynov and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason goes for a double leg but Shackleford avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Shackleford continues to drive forward.
A head kick misses from Shackleford.
Mason lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Shackleford tries to keep at a distance but Mason has taken the fight into the clinch.
Mason throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Shackleford is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Mason is defending well for now.
Mason is leaning against Shackleford and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Mason has Shackleford pressed against the cage, preventing Shackleford from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Mason ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mason no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Mason seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mason is on top in guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mason connects with a couple of short punches.
Mason looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Mason tries to free his leg and advance position but Shackleford is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mason stands and steps away. Shackleford gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Mason misses with a takedown attempt - Shackleford sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Mason moves into range and clinches up with Shackleford.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Shackleford creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Shackleford tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Shackleford tries to land knees in the clinch but Mason avoids the damage to the body.
Shackleford is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Mason has Shackleford pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Mason pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Shackleford tumbling to the mat - Mason dives into Shackleford's guard.
Mason engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Mason scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Shackleford keeping full guard, as Mason tries to pass.

Mason won't allow Shackleford to sweep him here.
Mason stands up over Shackleford, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Mason passes into half guard.
Mason prevents Shackleford from improving his position.

Mason is looking for a kimura but Shackleford is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mason to get the leverage.
Mason has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mason decides to stand and escape the position.
Mason shoots in for a double leg but Shackleford sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Rusty Shackleford has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenny Mason.

Shackleford gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mason to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Mason postures up and lands a big shot to Shackleford's brow.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Shackleford wants to sweep here but Mason controlling him for the moment.
Mason pushes down on Shackleford's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Mason content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Mason is looking for a kimura but Shackleford is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mason to get the leverage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mason is controlling the pace.

Mason postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Shackleford to stand up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kenny Mason dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!

Shackleford connects with a looping right hand.
Mason has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Shackleford throws a head kick but Mason moves out of range.
That kick from Shackleford tenderised Mason's leg. Mason is trying to keep his angry face on.
Mason misses with a low kick.
Shackleford tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Mason manages to circle out of the way.
A nice leg kick from Shackleford, right into the meat of the thigh.
Shackleford throws a head kick that Mason semi-blocks.
Mason dives in and grabs Shackleford's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shackleford pushes down on Mason's head and hops out.
Shackleford pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Mason gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Mason manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Shackleford manages to get himself to full guard.

Mason stands and throws Shackleford's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Mason cracks Shackleford with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Shackleford is looking to get back to his feet here but Mason is keeping cool and he's managed to take Shackleford's back.
Shackleford is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Mason.

Mason has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Shackleford is defending well but eventually Mason manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Shackleford has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Kenny Mason!
