Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Mcpherson (ranked 24667 p4p, 3890 weight class) and Lawson Sparks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jonathan Mcpherson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lawson Sparks! The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Ben Hemmingworth and Francis DeMontford.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sparks slaps away a takedown attempt from Mcpherson, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Sparks closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sparks lands in his opponent's guard. Sparks sitting in guard here, content to control. Sparks throws a big elbow that misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mcpherson trying to control the position here. Sparks trying to control but Mcpherson is working from the bottom.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Sparks pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mcpherson is keeping the position for now. Mcpherson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Mcpherson tries to get out of the position. Sparks is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Mcpherson scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Sparks manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Mcpherson on his heels. He'll look to pass Mcpherson's guard now, I'm sure.
Mcpherson pushes Sparks off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Mcpherson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sparks but Sparks pushes him off and we're back to square one. And Sparks tries to counter it with a takedown but Mcpherson pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Sparks closes the distance and clinches.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Sparks wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Mcpherson tries to stall but Sparks uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Mcpherson misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Sparks.
Sparks lands a takedown into guard.
Mcpherson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Sparks wants to control from the top but Mcpherson keeps moving. Mcpherson being controlled here, momentarily. Sparks has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mcpherson is proving hard to escape from.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Mcpherson keeping busy, throwing shots from the bottom. Sparks wants to pass the guard but Mcpherson is keeping the position.
 The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Mcpherson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Sparks counters with a two punch combo. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jonathan Mcpherson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Mcpherson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
 The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. and Sparks counters by clinching up.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee calls for Sparks to work.
Sparks jumps guard but Mcpherson stands there with Sparks around his waist. Sparks gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Sparks preventing the sweep. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Sparks shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mcpherson defends it nicely.
Mcpherson shoots in and gets a takedown into Sparks's guard. Mcpherson trying to control the position from guard on top but Sparks is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Mcpherson postures up.

Sparks in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Mcpherson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Mcpherson is trying to control. Sparks wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Sparks trying to hold on to Mcpherson's head to control him but Mcpherson postures up.
Sparks is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Sparks is staying active underneath Mcpherson, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Sparks wants to get back to full guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Sparks manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Sparks striking off his back but it's not causing Mcpherson any problems. Sparks keeping moving, preventing Mcpherson from controlling successfully. Mcpherson is looking to stand up but Sparks won't let him. Mcpherson trying to control the position from guard on top but Sparks is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
 The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Mcpherson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Sparks lands a two punch combo.
Sparks throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Mcpherson keeps the fight on the outside. Mcpherson wants to clinch up but Sparks keeps it at a distance. Jonathan Mcpherson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mcpherson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sparks wants to get back to full guard. Mcpherson has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Sparks works to full guard.
Sparks looking for subs off his back but Mcpherson has passed one foot through into half guard.
Sparks is breathing heavily.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Mcpherson scoring with strikes to the body and head. Mcpherson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Mcpherson stalling away here and it's allowed Sparks to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Sparks is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mcpherson has gone for a leg lock! Sparks slips out almost immediately though and dives into Mcpherson's guard.
 And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Jonathan Mcpherson will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Mcpherson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sparks circles away.

Mcpherson goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Mcpherson is trying to pull guard but Sparks has him pressed against the cage. Sparks is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Mcpherson fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Mcpherson has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Sparks is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Mcpherson. Mcpherson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sparks wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Mcpherson wants to control but Sparks postures up. Mcpherson is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Mcpherson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Mcpherson stops Sparks from passing to mount. Mcpherson struggling a bit here. Sparks trying to control the position but Mcpherson is working away. Sparks looks up at the clock and then as Mcpherson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Sparks smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

 That's three minutes gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Mcpherson's face as Sparks controls the position. Mcpherson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sparks wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Mcpherson is not content to let Sparks control the position. Sparks content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Mcpherson is looking to regain half guard here but Sparks keeps moving and retains side control.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
 The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Sparks dives in and scores a takedown into Mcpherson's guard. Sparks throws a big elbow that misses. Mcpherson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Sparks wants to stand but Mcpherson has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mcpherson trying to control the position.
And that's the end of the fight! Lawson Sparks comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Sparks has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
