Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Slade Sutton (ranked 25557 p4p, 3852 weight class) and Bruno Maia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maia has chosen La verdolaga as his entrance music. Bruno Maia has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Slade Sutton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bruno Maia!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Bruno Hogan and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maia shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sutton pinned against the cage. Sutton gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Sutton throws a counter high kick but Maia was just alert enough to avoid it.
Maia gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Sutton counters with a straight right hand.
Maia takes a swing at Sutton's ribcage but misses.
Sutton stalks Maia and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Maia's face. Maia staggers backwards, shaken.
A punch lands to the side of Maia 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Maia has his takedown stuffed
and Maia takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Slade Sutton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruno Maia.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sutton lands a front kick.
Maia swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Maia gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Sutton has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Maia is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Sutton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sutton lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

Maia has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Sutton is trying to keep an underhook but Maia manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Sutton wants to get back to his feet.
Maia with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Maia is looking to stall here but Sutton recovers full guard.

Sutton pushes Maia off and gets back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Maia closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sutton looking for a sweep but Maia has passed into full mount! Oh no!
The referee warns Sutton that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Sutton is trying to stand up.
Maia pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Maia postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Sutton looks a forlorn figure.
Maia takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Maia scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Sutton?
Maia lands a heavy elbow.

Sutton is rocked!
Maia scoring with strikes but Sutton is staying in there.
Oh Sutton is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Maia swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Bruno Maia!
Bruno Maia looked relieved post fight as he said the following; 'I'm the best MMA boxer bitches'.
