Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gu Riddle (ranked 2312 p4p, 5023 weight class) and Cole Dunn (ranked 182 p4p, 318 weight class). Gu Riddle has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Going The Distance


Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gu Riddle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cole Dunn!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Bruno Lombardi and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dunn closes this distance looking for a takedown but Riddle circles away.
Riddle throws a sloppy head kick

and Dunn counters by moving into the clinch.
Dunn content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Riddle gets to his feet - Dunn follows without any prompting.
Dunn dodges the punch combination from Riddle.
Dunn tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Dunn uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Riddle.

Riddle gets caught napping as Dunn dives in and scores a takedown. Riddle manages to retain guard.

Riddle pushes Dunn off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Riddle has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dunn can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
Dunn wants to stand but Riddle has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Riddle throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dunn tries to close the distance and clinch up but Riddle swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Riddle thinks about countering with a head kick.
Dunn shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Riddle keeps the fight on the outside.
Sloppy strikes from Riddle. Those never looked like landing.
Riddle throws out a leg kick but Dunn moves out of range and Riddle only half commits.

Cole Dunn showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Riddle has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Dunn is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Riddle.
