The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Kenichi Hosakawa and Shigeki Fujiwara.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.
Mondragon shoots in for a takedown but Kersikov shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
And Kersikov tries to counter it with a takedown but Mondragon pushes his down on his head and steps out.

Mondragon closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mondragon lands in his opponent's guard.

You can see the frustration on Mondragon's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Kersikov is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Mondragon's shoulder. That is not cool.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Kersikov takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Let's hope that Kersikov has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

It looks like Kersikov might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
