Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Gerrad Skolz (ranked 411 p4p, 843 weight class) and Roman Kersikov (ranked 56 p4p, 109 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Kersikov's choice of entrance music: 2 Best Enemies - Phases . Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gerrad Skolz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Roman Kersikov!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Nard Betker and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skolz fails with an attempt to clinch.
And Kersikov tries to counter it with a takedown but Skolz pushes his down on his head and steps out.
A bone on bone clash there as Kersikov blocks the leg kick.
Kersikov drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Skolz defends it well.
Skolz on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Skolz shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Kersikov checks a low kick from Skolz.
Skolz gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Kersikov.
Skolz looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Kersikov throws a hook but Skolz avoids it easily.
Skolz looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Skolz lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Kersikov has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Kersikov and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Skolz tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Kersikov manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Both fighters circling a little - Skolz finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Skolz buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Skolz fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kersikov.
Kersikov takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Kersikov swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Skolz has closed the distance and engaged Kersikov in a clinch.

Kersikov is looking to take a break and control but Skolz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Skolz tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kersikov wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Skolz takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Kersikov wants to control but Skolz is keeping him busy.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Skolz tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Well, with Kersikov on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Skolz is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Skolz flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Kersikov lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Kersikov connects with a nice short shot to Skolz's temple.
