The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vera slips a jab and a cross from Blackstone.
Blackstone fails in his attempt to clinch.
Blackstone throws a looping overhand right but Vera ducks down to avoid it.
Vera circles away from the clinch attempt.
Blackstone tries to clinch but Vera is having none of it.
Blackstone wants to clinch up but Vera keeps it at a distance.
Blackstone tries to close the distance and clinch up but Vera swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Vera misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Blackstone misses with a jab, cross combination.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like Joey Vera has been cut.

Vera pulls Blackstone into guard.

Vera escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Blackstone gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Vera has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Blackstone is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Vera.

Vera is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Blackstone pulls his head out easily.

Blackstone wants to stand up but Vera has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Blackstone postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Vera to stand up.

Vera walks into a left hand.
Vera with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Blackstone to score with a decent uppercut.

Vera is rocked!
Are you kidding me?! Blackstone ducked down and unloaded an uppercut from hell that sent Vera clean off his feet! Someone make me a GIF - that's knockout of the night for sure!
