PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mickey Findley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zakai Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mickey Findley has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mickey Findley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zakai Turner!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turner throws a head kick that Findley semi-blocks.
Findley moves out of range as Turner throws a body kick.
Nice jab there from Turner.
Findley misses with a double jab.
Turner tries to close the distance and clinch but Findley swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Findley closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Turner to the mat! Turner manages to get full guard.
Turner can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Findley controls the pace.
Findley wants to pass the guard but Turner is keeping the position.
Turner trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Turner had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Findley is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Turner Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Findley's back instead.
Findley tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Findley regains half guard.
Turner wants to take a breather but Findley is having none of it.
It looks like Turner is going to stand back up.
Turner looks gassed!
The fighters are battling for position here. Findley manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Turner trying to control but Findley is working from the bottom.
Findley is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Findley keeping moving, preventing Turner from controlling successfully.
Findley is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Turner is controlling him.
Turner won't allow Findley to sweep him here.
Findley might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Findley is controlling Turner's posture.
Findley looking for a sweep. Not yet Findley, not yet.
Turner wants to get up but he can't break Findley's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Turner showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Findley.
Findley fails with a takedown attempt.
Turner tries to clinch up.
Turner's corner calls for a 1-2. Turner obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Findley moves into the clinch successfully.

Findley breaks from the clinch.
Findley lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Findley gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Turner is fighting off a takedown attempt but Findley is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Turner to the mat. Turner regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Findley gets to his feet - Turner follows without any prompting.
Turner closes the distance looking to clinch
enabling Findley to counter with a crisp jab.
Turner tries to clinch but Findley moves away

and Findley counters by clinching up.
Turner has Findley pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Findley manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Findley tries for a takedown but Turner manages to get underhooks.
Findley can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mickey Findley. That's going to take a lot out of him.
With the fighters up against the cage, Turner throws an elbow but misses.

Findley gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Findley has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Turner is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Findley looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Findley working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Turner looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Findley! Submission of the night perhaps?
