Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robert Arroyo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Ikapoti Puapua!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Alan Glass and Chris Downing.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puapua bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Puapua is looking to clinch.
Puapua tries to clinch
and Arroyo counters with a straight right hand.
Arroyo fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Puapua looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Puapua blocks a leg kick.
Puapua wants to counter the offense by Arroyo and move into the clinch position.
Puapua is looking to clinch but Arroyo is avoiding it.
Puapua moves to clinch but Arroyo breaks away
enabling Arroyo to counter with a crisp jab.
Arroyo circles away from the clinch attempt
and Arroyo counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Puapua is rocked!
A nice leg kick lands there from Arroyo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Puapua tries to clinch
and Arroyo counters with a stiff right hand.
Puapua is still on wobbly legs! Can Arroyo finish him?
Puapua tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Puapua seems to have recovered his senses.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Puapua tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Arroyo scores with a counter punch that sends Puapua to the canvas! Arroyo smells blood - he's punishing Puapua with more strikes and the ref has stopped it! Puapua has no idea where he is - he's tackled the ref... oh dear, poor guy, the crowd is in hysterics!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Robert Arroyo!
Robert Arroyo decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
