The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
newton shoots in for a double leg but Van Dam sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
newton tries to clinch but Van Dam is having none of it.
newton shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
newton looking to control and managing it successfully.
Van Dam is desperately trying to improve his position but newton has a good base and remains in mount.

newton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
