PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Richard John Salvacion (ranked 23260 p4p, 23435 weight class) and Gakus Amiga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 59 - 80 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Richard John Salvacion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 58 - 75 - 7, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gakus Amiga!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Amiga shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Salvacion is trying to defend but Amiga finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Salvacion trying to control from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Well, if Amiga is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight� I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza� Yum. Can't wait.
Amiga's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion tries to roll over but Amiga keeps him under control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Amiga sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Salvacion wants to control but Amiga is keeping busy.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Amiga uses his free foot to push down on Salvacion's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Salvacion.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Salvacion is trying to escape the mount.
Amiga tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion is squirming around, avoiding Amiga's attempts to control the action.
Salvacion tries to hold on but Amiga postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Amiga wants to control but instead Salvacion manages to regain half guard.
Salvacion has his hands clasped together around Amiga's back. He's all about the action.
Amiga stalling.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Gakus Amiga dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Salvacion shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Amiga as he avoids it easily.
Amiga is trying to counter with his kicks.
Salvacion tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Amiga swivels and escapes.

Salvacion throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Amiga tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Salvacion is in Amiga's guard.
Salvacion is stalling in the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Amiga seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Salvacion trying to control but Amiga is working from the bottom.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Salvacion is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Amiga fails to land the takedown.
Amiga shoots for a double leg takedown but Salvacion sprawls well. He's pushed Amiga's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Salvacion shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Amiga tries to roll over but Salvacion keeps him under control.

Salvacion is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Amiga is just riding it out for now. Salvacion eventually gives up the hold.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion slows the pace down in half guard.
Salvacion seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Amiga for as long as he can get away with.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Richard John Salvacion dominated that second round.
That's time! Salvacion's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Salvacion.
Amiga counters with a body kick.
Amiga displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Salvacion.
Amiga unleashes a big counter combination but Salvacion bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Richard John Salvacion. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Amiga throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Salvacion's waist but Salvacion gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Amiga off to one side.
Salvacion throws a quick counter kick to the body but Amiga avoids it.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Salvacion looking to control.
Amiga is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Salvacion is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Amiga is looking to work some ground and pound but Salvacion has wrist control.
Amiga trying to move into half guard but instead Salvacion has managed to sweep!

Salvacion controlling from the top position.
Salvacion trying to control the position from guard on top but Amiga is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Amiga looking to control but Salvacion passes into half guard.
Amiga tries to get to full guard but Salvacion has control of the leg.
Amiga throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Salvacion with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Salvacion shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Salvacion was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Salvacion is staying tight to Amiga's torso, preventing him from escaping.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Gakus Amiga.
Well Amiga has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
