Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Franz Gruber (ranked 3248 p4p, 4360 weight class) and Kellen Velasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gruber is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Franz Gruber has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Franz Gruber! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Kellen Velasquez! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Roger Salmon and Paul Gruel.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gruber avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gruber appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Gruber is breathing heavily.
Gruber darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Velasquez trying to control here.
Gruber will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Velasquez tries to roll over but Gruber keeps him under control. Gruber scores with a couple of good hammerfists. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Velasquez should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Velasquez trying to control from the bottom.

Velasquez scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Gruber works his way to full guard. Good work. Gruber manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Velasquez manages to get himself to full guard.

 That's three minutes gone in the round. Velasquez looking for a sweep. Not yet Velasquez, not yet. Gruber stays in close to Velasquez's body and controls the position. Gruber is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Velasquez being controlled here, momentarily.
 The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Gruber drives through with a takedown into guard. Gruber is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Franz Gruber dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Gruber shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Gruber was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Gruber throws a strike aimed at the side of Velasquez's head but Velasquez avoids it well. Velasquez is looking to regain half guard here but Gruber keeps moving and retains side control. Velasquez wants to control but Gruber postures up. Velasquez is trying to improve his position. Gruber remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Gruber's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Gruber lands some shots froms side control. Velasquez tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Gruber easily slips into full mount! Gruber controlling from the full mount. Further stalling from Gruber.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. Gruber in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Velasquez is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Gruber tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Gruber is stinking the place up with his stalling.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Velasquez is bucking up trying to escape but Gruber cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Gruber controlling from the full mount. Gruber lands a big shot there that rocks Velasquez but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Velasquez in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Gruber controlling the position easily from mount. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Franz Gruber dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Gruber shoots in and bounces Velasquez off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Velasquez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gruber doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gruber manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Gruber slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Velasquez trying to keep a closed guard but Gruber is proving a slippery customer.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Gruber controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Gruber has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Velasquez wants to control but Gruber passes easily into half guard.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
 The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Is there anything that Velasquez can do to turn this around? Gruber slips a nice elbow through Velasquez's hands, connecting with Velasquez's forehead. Gruber lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Gruber is controlling the pace.

 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Kellen Velasquez has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Gruber shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Velasquez manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

And that's the end of the fight! Franz Gruber showed his dominance in that final round. Well Gruber has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
