Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Leon Hoffmann (ranked 2738 p4p, 2210 weight class) and Layne Villegas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Layne Villegas told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown attempt by Hoffmann or perhaps it was just good defense by Villegas, which made it look bad.
Villegas throws a hook but Hoffmann blocks it.
Villegas jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Hoffmann shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Villegas counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Leon Hoffmann seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hoffmann takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Hoffmann gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Villegas connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
